Competition: NASA RMC
The second year TrickFire Robotics competed in the NASA Robotics Mining Competition I was the Marketing/Outreach lead. During this year I helped design the robot, manage all the funds of the team, get more members onboard, talked to sponsors, get the robotics team under the umbrella of the university's non profit status, planned and attended outreach events, and helped manufacture and test parts of the robot.
I managed to get all members of the team to Florida using the University's Student Academic Enhancement Fund donations from community members and sponsors.
The design and manufacture of the robot took place over the span of months instead of last year's 5 days. The Software team continued to test and were trying to code an autonomously moving the robot across a field of boulders and pits. After many failures and the possibility of the robot being over weight, the mechanical engineering team and myself redesigned and rebuilt core pieces of the robot which we eventually took to Florida and competed. We achieved a higher score than last year, but that was due to the outreach report and our participation in the optional presentation.
My main contribution to the this year club was writing the outreach report to turn into the judges.
